Aquaculture research in the SEA Lab is focused on developing systems that target reductions in operating costs and losses of offshore farms. These systems involve meeting farm energy needs through power at sea, autonomous feeding and sensing, and data relay via a new generation of high-bandwidth low Earth orbit satellite constellations. In particular, we are developing the Platform for Integrated Sensing, Energy management, and Automated nouriShment (PISEAS), to ensure precise allocation of feed resources, while also allowing for worldwide connectivity and monitoring of aquaculture farms.
